I enjoy working on children’s picture and activity books because of the opportunities to bring a range of characters and scenes to life. Take a look at some of the books I’ve illustrated so far…

Watch Me Rise

Watch Me Rise is the first book I’ve illustrated for America author, LaShanda Bradley. It was a pleasure to work with her on this lovely story of Bella’s first day at Kindergarten. It is a playful read which encourages children to overcome their nerves around attending a new school and making new friends. Now available to order on Amazon or shop in Barnes & Noble and Walmart.

Adventures of Kwesi Tawiah

After working on the series of books featuring Adjoa, author Izzie Kpobie-Mensah commissioned me to work on her next series featuring male character, Kwesi. It includes vibrant and ethnically accurate illustrations with nods to Ghanaian culture throughout and was a pleasure to work on.

Fun Days with Jay reading book, workbook and colouring sheets

Dominique Hird commissioned me to illustrate/design her debut collection of items focussing on teaching phonics to young children. The Fun Days with Jay collection includes a reading book with bright scenes including words that have ‘ay’ sounds and is accompanied by a workbook to reinforce what the children have learnt. It includes activities including handwriting, reading practice and a phonics game. To help with the promotion of the book, I also created colouring sheets for a fun activity for younger readers, based on the scene from the reading book.

Now available to buy on Amazon.

rant.academy Workbook

rant.academy is a personal development and business start up course for young entrepreneurs and they commissioned me to design the content for their course, website and the physical workbook. I created the characters (based on real children) and designed each page including forms, colouring activities and inspirational cover pages, showing that text heavy books can still look and feel engaging and fun for young audiences. The illustrations were also used in their promotional videos as animations. To view the course, videos and purchase a workbook, visit their website here.

Melanin Magic Kids Activity Books

The Melanin Magic Club UK have commissioned me to illustrate their set of activity books for young black girls. I brought their part-human, part-animal characters to life and designed each bespoke activity page, incorporating the characters into them. Activities include colouring-in, dot-to-dot, Spot the Difference, word searches, mazes and more!

The first book All About Esi is out now, with Beautiful Baya (the second book) coming soon. Find out more about their mission and buy copies here.

Awesome Super-Duper Me!

This insightful picture book was created for Voices for Autism, aiming to raise awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It follows Tegan’s day and helps children understand certain traits that may come with the disorder, encouraging understanding and acceptance of people with special educational needs. Adjoa’s New Arrival

Adjoa’s New Arrival is the third book in the series of Adventures of Adjoa Fordour by Izzie Kpobie-Mensah and I had the pleasure of illustrating all three books, developing this cute character as she navigates through life. This book is a lovely story of Adjoa becoming a big sister, but does she have a baby brother or baby sister?

The Three Princesses

New author, Lee Curniffe, contacted me to illustrate his bedtime story dedicated to his young daughter. This book is a mix of traditional fairytale and modern Caribbean life! I enjoyed the working on the variety of characters and loved the fantasy elements. Purchase a copy today!

Dylan’s Dilemma

Dylan’s Dilemma is a lovely story written by Richmond Osei-Akoto, showing the relationship between father and son; After the unexpected happens, Dylan is faced with a difficult choice. What will he do, what should he do?

I was approached by the author after him seeing my previous book illustrations and greeting cards; I enjoyed working on such a special book dedicated to Richmond’s daughters. Dylan’s Dilemma is now available to buy as a paperback via my Etsy shop or as an e-book on Amazon. Follow the author on Instagram for more details and updates.
