The design process…

Each project is unique in content but the process tends to follow the below structure for easy understanding between designer and client. It ensures a smooth transition from concept to completion…

  1. Enquiry: Once you’ve had a good look at my portfolio and have decided you’d like to work with me, please send me an email with your requirements. Please provide as much information as you can.
  2. Consultation: If I need any more information, I may ask to have a quick call or ask for more detail so that I can provide an accurate quote.
  3. Quote and down-payment: Once I have sent you a quote and we have agreed, I take a 25–50% down-payment to secure the job. This quote includes two rounds of changes to the initial design concept, unless agreed otherwise.
  4. Sign-off: Once you are happy with the design, I will ask for sign-off in writing (via email). This is when the balance (the total minus the down-payment) is due within 7 working days.
  5. Completion: On receipt of the balance payment, I will send you the final high-quality designs for your use.
  6. Review: Once the project is complete, please do leave a review on my work and the process. Thank you!

Children’s books

The process for illustrating a children’s book is slightly more complex as it’s a larger and longer-term project. Watch the video below for an explanation of the design process for an illustrated book or get in touch with specific enquiries or to send a brief.
