Why do you think Black History Month is important?
I think it’s important because it lets people realise and recognise the importance of black people in history.
Tell us a bit about your chosen art form/dance style:
I do dancehall because it was the only type of dance I grew up seeing, so it became my passion.
Why does this dance style appeal to you?
It gives me sudden gush of energy when I hear songs from the genre!
What’s your biggest achievement in this field?
My biggest achievement was to see me and my team claiming top spots in all of Jamaica’s
biggest dance competitions.
Where do you plan to take this dance style?
I plan to take dancehall dance/culture everywhere that it hasn’t been yet, so people can see and love it as much as I do.
Who inspires you and why?
Well, I see my self as my own inspiration and driving force, because every time I dance I can feel the progress that I’m making and I know the struggle it took to get me this far… even though I still have a long way to go.
What advice would you give to those interested in this style?
To all those who are inspired, just keep pushing your self because, soon, you might be the one inspiring others.
If you could try any other style, what would you do?
I don’t think I would do any other to be honest.
Tell us about your classes/up-coming events/projects:
I had a class in Streatham on October 7th and after that I might start doing weekly classes. I’ll keep everyone updated on my Instagram, so you should go follow me I have tons of videos coming up… so enjoy!
