Why do you think Black History Month is important?
Black History Month is important because it creates awareness for all people and it also provides an opportunity for people to learn and understand about African history and culture. To be honest, Black History should be celebrated every month, not just one.
Tell us a bit about your chosen art form/dance style:
The art of dancehall isn’t just about dancing, it’s about expressing yourself. It’s all about the feeling when it comes to dancehall; there no right or wrong way of dancing – it’s how you feel to express yourself.
Why does this dance style appeal to you?
It appeals to me because it’s me; it’s in my blood. It keeps me active and I love the steps, the groove, the feeling and everyday there a new step so you’re always learning.
What’s your biggest achievement in this field?
I would have to say teaching dancehall.
Where do you plan to take this art form/dance style?
Around the world! Everyone needs to know the dancing side of dancehall and not the passa passa ( head top Brum out side).

What advice would you give to those interested in this style?
Start from the basics; that’s where the feeling comes from. You need the foundation.. you can’t build a house without the base.

Tell us about your classes/up-coming events/projects:
I run a dancehall/soca class every Monday with Marlon, Miss Rose and Rumhead for a hour and a half. You get the full feeling of dancehall and the whine side of soca with a live DJ to keep the energy and music sweet… call it a party class!
